Podcast Review: Savage Lovecast

Posting about movies has been fun, so I thought, “Why not podcasts?” I spend a lot more time listening to them than watching movies (or anything else), and I’m constantly trying out new ones. This seems like a good way to keep track of them, especially limited series that I binge all at once, then end up forgetting about. I’d also love to share new finds/current obsessions, though before I get to that, I wanted to shout out an old favorite.

Prior to 2016, I’d never listened to a podcast. I didn’t even know what they were, really, though I was intrigued when I saw Savage Lovecast advertised on a website I frequented. I downloaded an episode, gave it a listen, and that was it. I was hooked.

Over the past six years, I’ve subscribed/unsubscribed from hundreds of podcasts. This is the only one I’ve never abandoned or taken a break from. I haven’t missed a single episode in the last six years, and I’ve even binged the archives going all the way back to 2006 (?!)

So why do I love it so much? Because I love Dan Savage. Even when I disagree with him, I appreciate his perspective and I find his voice incredibly soothing. He’s kind, compassionate, legitimately funny, and I love how snarky he can be. He also gives great advice more often than not, and both his opening rants and the guests he brings on are fascinating.

Would recommend his podcast to anyone who can handle adult (sometimes explicit) content. It’s well worth the listen. ♥
